Exercises composition include an array of fundamental movements and hard technical exercises. By choosing an exercise here, you start a guided course.  A course which will make you capable of completing the selected exercise without compensations, lack of control, etc. To perform a deadlift without flaw, is partly mastering the movement pattern and equally not doing it asymmetrical.  I.e. your right and left sides should contribute an equal amount of the weight in the lift, hereby combining a controlled movement with potential.
