Description of instable ankle

One of the goals of rehabilitation of ankle injuries is to prevent the joint between the lower leg and the talus bone of the foot (Talocrural joint) to become unstable. The most obvious cause of instability in the ankle is most often the result of poor rehabilitation after injury, but instability may also have other causes; e.g. joint hypermobility, weak ligaments and weak muscles. The talocrural joint is considered unstable if you can slide talus more than 10 ° into the joint; If little or no looseness is observed in this motion, the joint is stable. For the joint to be considered instable looseness in anterior (frontal) or posterior (backwards) movement is not necessarily perceived. In other words, it is not necessary to make a so-called drawer testing of the joint.
