The elbow is quite a special joint, because the elbow is in fact not a joint. Men three linked joints, inside the elbow joint. They are linked by the humerus, the radius and the ulna, each of which creates a joint with one another.

This means when you move the elbow, it’s a linked movement created by several joints. That’s why the elbow isn’t comparable to the knee joint. Besides there is rarely weight impact on the elbow joint, which is why you don’t see the same type of injuries.

Both can however, much like all other real joints in the body, be affected by ligament injuries. Which typically occurs in contact sports. Although in the elbow, there is a tendency for nerve compression injuries, which doesn’t occur in other joints, because the nerves in the elbow are further outlying, which you might know when you “hit the funny bone” in the elbow.
