Upper crossed syndrome (Chest-Neck-Shoulder imbalance)
Rehab training for the injury

Rehab mobility and stability – Rehab strength training

Description of upper crossed syndrome

The program will prevent upper crossed syndrome, which is a muscular imbalance across the chest, neck, and shoulder region. Upper crossed syndrome is characterized by shoulders being pulled forwards by the tight chest muscles so that the arms hang in front of the body. Also, the thoracic spine (back of the chest) is rounded (kyphosis) which causes a sway in the neck. In this way the “crossed” muscular balance across chest, neck and shoulders is non-existent.

Symptoms of upper crossed syndrome

Injury resulting from the imbalance include:

  • Bursae problems in the shoulder.
  • Neck pain.
  • Headache.
  • Radiating symptoms in the arms etc.
  • Impingement syndrome in the shoulder.
